Dark moody sky with clouds hovering over the city, lit by such a waste of electricity...our government seems to think we have an endless supply of "green" "clean" hydroelectric power so just let the people keep the lights on, right?  Maybe we should all stop drinking the kool-aid and realize that building huge concrete dams blocking the natural flow of most of our large rivers and forming reservoirs the size of European countries is not the answer to our energy problems.  Maybe a little energy conservation would help?

Well, here is the first photo of the series proper.  It was taken on October 5th, 2016, so just over 7 years ago. Note that the Alexandra pier has not yet been turned into a cruise ship terminal, it looks ancient and crumbling. A large red painted ship, one of the "lakers" that goes between Montreal and the Great Lake ports, has docked, unladen (note how high it rides in the water) at the pier, perhaps for its winter mooring.  The big concrete block-like wharf to the left is the Bickerdike pier. Classic Montreal skyline - you can see a fair bit of the Mountain, including the cross on the far right. It is almost devoid of construction cranes - one is visible on the far left, part of the Montreal Canadiens Tower condo complex.
